Az egykori acélváros megszelídült mára. A több mint száz évig szunnyadó avasi pincesoron is feléledt a hajdani borászat. A hegy tetején a város jelképe, az Avasi kilátó modern betonkonstrukció, a közelében viszont ott a gótikus avasi templom, a belváros legrégebbi épülete. Alattuk kanyarog a Szinva patak és Miskolc főutcája (egyesek szerint Európa leghosszabb főutcája), régi polgárházak között. A város másik legrégibb épülete a hegyek övezte diósgyőri vár, nemrég helyreállított középkori pompájában. Mélyen az erdők csendjében őrzi egy letűnt kor álmait Lillafüred, a tóparti Palotaszállóval, régi villáival, erdei ösvényeivel.

One-time steel city, Miskolc has changed its image for long. The old wine-cellars of the Avas hill host wineries again now. The look-out tower on top of the hill is a symbol of Miskolc. It is a modern concrete construction. By way of a contrast, one of the oldest buildings of the city, the Gothic church of the Avas is quite close. Old burgher's houses are watching from both sides of the high street. From a certain point of view, that is the longest high street of Europe. The other oldest edifice is the royal Castle of Diósgyőr surrounded by the beauty of the Bükk Mountain. You should go just a little further to find the dreams of bygone times in Lillafüred. With the castle-like Hotel Palota by the lake, its olden villas and forest paths, it truly reminds us of Alpine resorts.
